With or Without Medical Conditions?
Tuesday March 29, 2011
Every form of travel insurance will need you to look at whether you have a pre-existing medical condition or not. It doesn’t always make a difference if you do have one, but you should always declare it, no matter what it might be. It could be that you will not have to pay any more for your travel insurance than you would have done otherwise. It will simply be noted on your records. But if you do have a condition and you don’t declare it so you can be sure of cheaper insurance, you will come unstuck should you ever need to claim for it.
This situation is arguably even more important to consider when you are over 65 and you are looking for travel insurance. After all the older we get the more likely we are to have some kind of condition that we might live with on a daily basis. It pays to be honest about it when looking for your travel insurance and this is particularly the case when you are 65 or over.
You will often be able to get quotations for your travel insurance online. In this situation make sure you watch out for a box or an option which allows you to say whether you have a medical condition or not. It might ask you to select a policy that covers this situation. Read everything carefully and if you cannot find such a selection, give the company a ring to see how to proceed.
The important thing is honesty. You may find you have to pay slightly more to cover your condition, but you may not. It all depends on the individual situation and you must be sure what is required by each company. In addition to this you should remember to shop around to find out which insurance companies are going to provide better, cheaper and more comprehensive cover for you. In this circumstance, where you have other conditions to bear in mind, it makes perfect sense to get the best possible price you can. It could be lower than you might think.
